    Welcome to Prof. Massimo Simion’s surgical web series Advanced GBR.
    This collection of surgical videos - performed and commented by Prof. Massimo Simion, among the best world-renowned experts in bone augmentation - aims at providing learners with a thorough description of all the phases comprised in advanced bone and tissue reconstruction procedures.

    Advanced GBR allows the learner to discover the hard and soft tissue augmentation protocols used by the Author in his daily practice, with specific focus on:

    ● soft tissue management in one-stage and two-stage GBR surgery;
    ● bone harvesting procedures and features of the different graft types;
    ● use of titanium-reinforced membranes VS resorbable membranes and stabilization strategies;
    ● how to successfully transfer the desired morphology to the membrane;
    ● releasing incision design and flap passivation techniques;
    ● suture techniques.

    • Lesson 1. Immediate post-extraction implant placement in the esthetic area with simultaneous CTG
    • Lesson 2. Optimization of peri-implant soft tissue esthetics: envelope flap + CTG

Full course program
Lesson 1. Immediate post-extraction implant placement in the esthetic area with simultaneous CTG
This complete video surgery shows the extraction of a maxillary central incisor, with immediate implant placement and simultaneous connective tissue graft The temporary crown is positioned right after the surgery.

duration: 59 min
You can watch a five-minute clip of the lesson below.
Lesson 2. Optimization of peri-implant soft tissue esthetics: envelope flap + CTG
The case portrayed in this video shows the esthetic optimization of a maxillary implant placed in central incisor position. The apical gingival margin of the adjacent tooth is treated with an envelope flap and contextual sub-mucosal connective tissue graft.

duration: 32 min
You can watch a five-minute clip of the lesson below.
Lesson 3. Vertical ridge augmentation: tooth extraction and socket preservation - Part 1
This video portrays the extraction of 2 elements (2.1 - 2.2), with severe compromission of the root structure and interproximal attachment loss. The alveolar preservation technique chosen for this case sees the combined application of a bone graft and a connective tissue graft, with the aim of preparing the site for a second stage surgery in 4 months.

duration: 11 min
You can watch a five-minute clip of the lesson below.
Lesson 4. Vertical ridge augmentation: vertical GBR and horizontal augmentation - Part 2
This video completes the previous one, and shows the second stage surgery of the same case approached in video #3. After 4 months from the ridge preservation, the surgeon proceeds with a tridimensional alveolar bone augmentation with titanium-reinforced non resorbable membrane.

duration: 20 min
You can watch a five-minute clip of the lesson below.
Lesson 5. Vertical ridge augmentation: 7 months healing evaluation, implant placement and contextual soft tissue volume enhancement via collagenic membrane - Part 3
After 7 months from the tridimensional bone augmentation described in video #4, the surgical site is re-accessed in order to proceed with the installation of 2 hybrid implants. Contextually the adjacent soft tissue volume is improved through the application of a collagenic membrane.

duration: 1 h 09 min
You can watch a five-minute clip of the lesson below.
Lesson 6. Resolution of extensive peri-implantitis bone defect via vertical GBR - Part 1
This ReLive video surgery opens a series of 2 videos dedicated to the same case. Here we can appreciate the surgical resolution of an extensive tridimensional defect in the esthetic zone (elements 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5). The approach chosen to solve this defect, whose origin is related to severe peri-implantitis, is vertical guided bone regeneration with a titanium-reinforced membrane.

duration: 36 min
You can watch a five-minute clip of the lesson below.
Lesson 7. Resolution of extensive peri-implantitis bone defect: membrane removal after 9 months - Part 2
This video follows the lecture #6 and shows the removal of the titaniumreinforced membrane placed 8 months ago. In this video we can appreciate the placement of 3 hybrid implants and the contextual enhancement of the adjacent soft tissue thickness through the application of porcine collagen matrix.

duration: 1 h 10 min
You can watch a five-minute clip of the lesson below.
Lesson 8. Complex case of regenerative dentistry with resorbable membrane
This video depicts the surgical resolution of a severe post-traumatic composite bone and soft tissue defect. The approach chosen sees the application of a resorbable collagen membrane in order to augment tridimensionally the tissues and promote soft tissue maturation.

duration: 54 min
You can watch a five-minute clip of the lesson below.
Lesson 9. Management of atrophic posterior maxilla: vertical GBR + sinus lift - Part 1
This ReLive video surgery allows to appreciate the step-by-step management of a severe maxillary deficiency, where the synergy between vertical GBR with a titanium-reinforced membrane and the sinus floor elevation plays a central role.

duration: 1 h 04 min
You can watch a five-minute clip of the lesson below.
Lesson 10. Management of atrophic posterior maxilla: membrane removal - part 2
This ReLive surgery depicts the second stage surgery of the case outlined in video #9. 3 hybrid implants are placed in the newly-formed bone, with contextual additional bone graft and a resorbable membrane as barrier.

duration: 1 h 28 min
You can watch a five-minute clip of the lesson below.
Lesson 11. Narrow edentulous ridge expansion through GBR
This video shows the horizontal augmentation of a narrow crest through GBR approach. The non-resorbable titanium-reinforced membrane used for the procedure sees the application of an osteosynthesis screw as horizontal support. The commentary allows to appreciate the GBR protocol step-by-step.

duration: 45 min
You can watch a five-minute clip of the lesson below.
Lesson 12. Mandibular vertical atrophy resolution via GBR and immediate implant placement
This video shows a posterior alveolar ridge vertical augmentation surgery, with contextual placement of 3 hybrid implants. To provide support to the regeneration, the surgeon applies a non-resorbable titanium-reinforced membrane.

duration: 1 h
You can watch a five-minute clip of the lesson below.
